Florida State / Office of the Dean of the Faculties / Appointments / Adjunct Eligibility
Adjunct Eligibility
EXAMPLE OF ADJUNCT ELIGIBILITY
REMAINING IN ONE YEAR
(Same guidelines apply for Visiting in Lieu of Adjunct appointments)
Note: Total eligibility for an adjunct in one year (Fall semester through Summer semester) is 26 weeks (13 pay periods) at 100%FTE or 52 weeks (26 pay periods) at 50%, etc.
EXAMPLE:
Employee: John Smith
Employee's Adjunct Appointments:
8/30/00 - 12/19/00 = 8.0 pay periods x 2 = 16.0 weeks @ 60% FTE = 9.60 weeks
1/4/01 - 4/30/01 = 8.3 pay periods x 2 = 16.60 weeks @ 60% FTE = 9.96 weeks
5/9/01 - 6/6/01 = 2.1 pay periods x 2 = 4.20 weeks @ 85% FTE = 3.57 weeks
6/6/01 - 6/30/01 = 1.8 pay periods x 2 = 3.60 weeks @ 60% FTE = 2.16 weeks
TOTAL WEEKS APPOINTED TO DATE: 25.29 weeks
Proposed Appointment:
7/1/01 - 8/6/01 = 2.6 pay periods x 2 = 5.20 weeks @ 60% FTE = 3.12 weeks plus Weeks Appointed to Date = 25.29 weeks
TOTAL WEEKS IF PROCESSED: 28.41 weeks
To determine remaining eligibility, subtract the total weeks used for the year (Fall semester through Summer semester) from 26 (total number of weeks allowed).
26.00
- 28.41
- 2.41
In this instance, 2.41 weeks or 1.205 pay periods at 100% FTE (or twice that amount at 50% FTE) in eligibility has been exceeded for the current year.
