6.17 Research and Instructional Projects Involving Human Subjects

6.17.1 Board of Regents Policy--FAC 6C-10.003

Use of Human Subjects in Research. The responsibility for the proper conduct of an experiment involving human subjects is the primary responsibility of the principal investigator. Each university is responsible for prior review and approval of the conduct of any such experiment. Each university shall adopt procedures for the conduct of experiments involving human subjects.

6.17.2 University Policy

All research and teaching proposals involving human subjects must be reviewed by the University Human Subjects Committee prior to their inception. The committee is composed of representatives of the various schools and colleges. The committee is appointed by the Vice President for Research, whose office bears responsibility for administration of university policies to assure the welfare of human subjects.
