Recommendations for honorary degrees are made to the Honorary Degrees Committee which submits nominations to the President. Any active or retired faculty member or any other member of the University may suggest potential Honorary Degree recipients to the Committee. In general, it shall be the intent of the committee to honor persons of outstanding scholarly, creative or humane achievement, who have gained national or international recognition or made a significant contribution to the Southeastern region of the United States or to Florida State University.
