7.13 Assignment of Responsibilities

7.13.3 University Policy

All faculty and professional staff members (to include research associates, associates in research, assistants in research, and others) shall be assigned in writing at the beginning of each academic year their duties and responsibilities in teaching, research, and other creative activities, service, and any other specific duties and responsibilities assigned for the year. This assignment is to be made on the form for Assignment of Responsibilities approved by the Council of Deans.

Each employee earning eligibility for tenure or promotion shall be given assignments which provide equitable opportunities in relation to other employees in the same department to meet the required criteria for promotion and tenure. Administrators responsible for making the assignment shall contact the employee prior to making the final written assignments. Contacts shall also be made prior to changes which become necessary in an assignment: such changes shall be specified in writing. The employee shall be granted, upon request, a conference with the person responsible for making the assignment to express concerns regarding the employee's qualifications, the preferences, and the character of the assignment.

The Florida Statutes, Board of Regents rules, University policy and the Agreement provide that the .i.annual evaluation of faculty; shall be based on the assignment of responsibilities. A copy of the assignment, and any subsequent changes, shall be placed in the evaluation file of each faculty and professional staff member.
