(1) General Faculty members and Administrative and Professional employees who intend to seek election to and hold public office shall notify the president or president's designee of their intentions.
(2) The president or president's designee shall consider whether the employee's candidacy for and holding public office will interfere with the full discharge of the employee's duties. If this determination is made, the employee will be required to take leave of absence or submit a resignation, as determined by the president or president's designee.
(3) All employees shall adhere to the provisions of Section 104.31, Florida Statutes.
Announced candidates of the major political parties for the Presidency or the Vice Presidency of the United States--or their designated representatives of national stature who wish to appear on the campus--may use institutional property as approved by the administration. All other political speech making shall be limited to meetings sponsored by recognized organizations of the University and shall be held only in the Rowena Longmire Building, in the Outdoor Amphitheatre of the Music Building, or in the University Union.
