7.48 Outside Employment: Non-Unit Administrative and Professional Employees

Non-Unit A&P employees may engage in outside employment provided it does not interfere with the regular work of the employee and does not constitute a conflict of interest between the outside activity and the employee's responsibility to the University.

Any non-unit A&P employee who proposes to engage in outside employment or any continuing business activity shall obtain approval, in writing, as far in advance as is practical. The request for approval shall include the name of the proposed employer, the location where such activity will be performed, the nature of the activity, the amount of compensation anticipated from such employment during the calendar year, and any intended use of University facilities, equipment, or personnel. The employee shall inform the supervisor of any changes in outside employment.

Where the request includes an intended .i.Outside Activities:Use of University Facilities;use of University facilities, equipment, or personnel, approval may be conditioned upon reimbursement to the University for any additional costs resulting from such use. Outside employment may be approved but use of University facilities, equipment, or personnel denied. If the intended use of University personnel is approved, such personnel may not be compensated by the University for work performed in connection with the outside employment and must obtain approval for such work as outside employment pursuant to this rule.

No employee shall claim to be an official University representative in connection with any outside employment.
